A three-day national level conference titled KIETMUN – 2017 (KIET Model United Nations) with a theme “Diversity-Dialogue-Development” was held at PAF-Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology – Main Campus, PAF Base Korangi Creek from 3rd to 5th November, 2017.
The event was one of its kind in terms of its lofty educational value, the wide array of global issues discussed, the unprecedented number of participants from all over the country and its excellence of event management. The objective of KIETMUN is to inculcate a sense of dialogue in our youth so that they may contribute towards world peace and progress amid challenges emerging out of diversities. The event was attended by over 500 participants belonging to University of Karachi, FAST University, Iqra University, SZABIST, IBA SUKKUR, GC University Lahore, Quad-e-Azam University and St. Paul’s School.
The chief guest of the opening ceremony Dr. Muzaffar Mehmood, Dean Academics, emphasized upon the need of discussing how to sustain development in the society while minimizing political problems. The chief guest for the closing ceremony, AVM (Retd) Tubrez Asif, President PAF-KIET, lauded the efforts of the entire team for the high standards of debates and advised the participants to promote a culture of reading for purpose of their intellectual and cognitive growth. The Patron of KIETMUN, Asst. Professor M. Ajmal Khan, in his speech on the occasion referred to the significance of effective diplomacy for weaker countries in the rapidly changing world politics.
